Things Guys Think But Won’t Just Say

Things Guys Think But Won’t Just Say “Your family really scares me.”  Either the constant contact, or the gruff father, or the crazy sister… there’s some aspect here that he will never name (you don’t mess with a girl’s family) but it scares the sh*t out of him. “I’m not sure how good I am at that sex thing you seem to enjoy.” Whatever “that thing” may be, however much you’ve encouraged or praised it, he’s still not sure if he’s a pro at it and feels a little self-conscious each time. The female body is an elaborate and wondrous thing. “I’m not 100% where I want to be professionally.”  Who is, really? Even if he’s wildly successful he’ll still have ambition to continue to climb whatever ladder he’s on. The more a man says how amazing he’s doing professionally, the more insecure he usually is about it. “I have a body complex as well.”  He sucks in his gut every time he takes off his shirt and hopes you don’t notice. “I have occasional doubts about us.” ...

Qualities Men Are After

Qualities Men Are After Po We all know that men are attracted to attractive women. But we might have been wrong about what exactly they’re responding to. It’s not all long legs, shiny hair, hourglass curves—according to a  study , personality can make a big difference in whether someone finds you aesthetically pleasing. Groups of men and women who were asked to judge strangers’ yearbook photos were more likely to rate subjects as physically attractive, a potential friend, and a potential date when the images were paired with positive personality traits. In other words, personality plays a big role not only in interpersonal chemistry (how well you can hold a conversation in a bar or how well you respond to a date emotionally) but in actually altering how attractive someone thinks you are. Here, study author Dr. Gary Lewandowski expounds on dating, attraction, and what this all means in...

Signs He is Less Likely to Cheat

Signs He is Less Likely to Cheat Posted on Being cheated on is the worst. You feel rejected but also pissed. You don’t know who you can trust. Well, scientific studies have narrowed down some traits that are statistically more common in guys who cheat, so here are some signs (not confirmation, obviously) that your guy will never stray. You bring home the same amount of money.  A recent study from the American Sociological review showed that partners were less likely to cheat if they were in the same (or similar) income brackets. Men were more likely to cheat if they made a lot more money than their partner, and they were most likely to cheat if they made a lot less. So if you two have similar paychecks, you’ve got statistics on your side. His friends are also faithful.  People are more likely to cheat if their friends are also cheaters, according to M. Gary Newman, author of  The Truth About Cheating.  If his friends are trustworthy, it’s li...

10 To-Do for a Long Lasting Relationship

10 To-Do for a Long Lasting Relationship Posted on We’ve all swooned at the adorable stories of couples who spend their whole lives together, and are just as much in love with each other in old age as they were right at beginning. But what  is  their secret? How do they manage to maintain, and strengthen, their love through the years? Well, psychiatrists have published this advice. Read on to discover 10 tips for lasting relationships: Go to bed together.  This doesn’t mean go have sex every single night, but rather go to bed at the same time. Dr. Goulston reckons that “happy couples resist the temptation to go to bed at different times” even if one gets back up shortly after. There’s nothing like a bedtime cuddle! Work out your common interests.  It’s fine if he loves rugby while you’re into painting, and you shouldn’t even worry if the thing you find most boring is what really gets him going. But Dr. Goulston reminds us th...

Not All Women are “Crazy” and not all Men are “Dick”

Not All Women are “Crazy” and not all Men are “Dick” Posted on Recently an article was published in  The Washington Post  noting that  men really need to stop calling women “crazy.” In the same vein as “bossy” or “slutty” this adjective is predominantly applied to women in a way that is meant to demean or undermine who they are. Typically when a man is going through a traumatic time, he’s referred to as “going through something,” or “acting a bit emotional,” but usually never “crazy.” This is one of two double-standard terms that I’d like us to end today. The other is calling men “dicks.” These two terms, “crazy” and “dick,” often come up when there is a break-up afoot. Imagine your best friend parting ways with her long-term boyfriend. You’re sitting there over drinks and she is complaining how things ended poorly. An easy go-to would be to say, “He sounds like a real dick. You deserve better,” and move on. I’ve found that in talking with friends in this situat...

What Lasting Relationships Feels Like

Image
What Lasting Relationships Feels Like Posted on In the early stages of a relationship, everything will feel so sweet and so romantic… like a page pulled out of a splendid fairy tale. Sadly this giddy feeling often fades off at some point, leaving the partners stripped and wondering if they are still in love at all. This is usually the stage where many relationships crash owing to the fact that partners no longer feel the initial feelings with which they set out in the relationship or just because they fail to notice its presence. But according to couples who have been together for 30 years and more, this is what love feels like with the right person, the one with whom you can spend forever and still hope to have them, if given the chance of another life. Feels like you’ve known each other forever Mrs. Onyinye  says when she started dating her husband in 1984, it felt like they had known each other forever and even when they got married in 1985 it only felt n...

When Your Partner Earns More Than You Do, What Happens?

When Your Partner Earns More Than You Do, What Happens? Posted on AUGUST 1, 2017 If you’ve only dated people within your salary band, then awesome for you. It must be so simple. But too many a time it has happened: you’re on the first date and obviously flashing cash like you’re Richard Branson because no one wants to say “ooh I can’t afford another cocktail” on a first date, then you wake up the next day and realize you are definitely going to be on the old ‘gari soakings’ diet for the rest of the month because you spent beyond your means. Again. What about when you end up in a relationship with a complete and utter baller? It’s damn hard, that’s what. You always want to pay half for everything, but also you’re kind of limited in the luxuriousness of the meals/holidays/experiences you can afford. It’s kind of a nightmare. Lovehoney’s relationship expert Annabelle Knight shares her advice for not letting that pesky bill come between you. “If you’re in a relati...

Dating And Relationship, What Makes The Difference?

Image
Dating And Relationship, What Makes The Difference? Posted on It’s common to hear someone say they are ‘dating’ another person even though what they really intend to express is that they are in a relationship with said person. Dating is usually that stage when you both occasionally meet up, hang out, converse, check each other out and if things go well, you move into a relationship. Here is how it works: when one date turns to two, and goes on and on because two people feel comfortable spending time with each other and see a relationship as the next step, then one of them needs to bring up the talk and express the desire for a more intimate relationship. If they both feel the same way about each other, then they begin a romantic relationship and become exclusive to each other. This differentiation is necessary as more people seem to be confused as to what dating and relationships mean and the type of things they imply. When you are dating, you are only ‘testing th...

Common Bad Habits To Watch Out For In Your Relationship

One common statement attributed to the differences in behavior between a man and a woman states that ‘Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus’. This statement accredited to a popular author John Gray simply illustrates the importance of understanding the different individuals and certain habits common to them. In many marriages, men have been known to exhibit certain common bad habits although the level at which they are exposed may differ from one another. Perhaps you just got married or you have been in the institution for some years wondering why the man you thought was prim and proper has suddenly been plagued with certain bad habits, trust me; every man has it and here are some top bad habits your spouse may possess which could be driving you down the bend. Dishonesty This is a bad habit your husband might have developed as a single man and you may have also recognized this habit during courtship as it is often visible. Trust is the substance that holds a marriage together ...
