Turkey: 90 Now Dead, 1500 Arrested In Attempted Military Coup
The death toll from the overnight attempted military coup has now risen to 90. As more than 1,500 military personnel have been arrested by authorities.
Turkey’s intelligence agency headquarters were attacked by military helicopters and heavy machine gun fire, wounding at least three people.
The head of the agency, Hakan Fidan, was at a secure location throughout the events and was in constant contact with President Tayyip Erdogan and Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, the source said.
President Tayyip Erdogan now claims the attempted coup is over after he urged supporters to take to the streets. But tensions in the country remain high.
