Adebayo Faleti – A Rare Gem.

Lots of sympathizers, keep thronging the home of the late renowned author, poet, ace broadcaster and actor, Pa Adebayo Faleti, who died on Sunday. Men and women, who besieged Faleti’s premises located at Olororo area of Ojoo, Ibadan, Oyo State, wept uncontrollably, while some were seen in groups discussing his sudden demise.
Meanwhile, a family source disclosed that a meeting will soon hold to plan a befitting burial for the late actor. This came as notable Nigerians, especially from the South-West paid tributes to the late veteran broadcaster and actor, saying his death was as a huge loss to the country’s creative sector. The veteran poet, who translated the National Anthem into Yoruba, died in his residence on Sunday.

Lamenting the loss of Faleti, Lai Mohammed said Faleti’s death was a huge loss to the country’s creative sector in particular and to the entire nation in general. In a statement, the Information Minister said Pa Faleti was a trailblazer and a colossus across many genres, who left an indelible footprint in the Nigerian landscape. He said generations of authors, poets, broadcasters and actors owe Pa Faleti a debt of gratitude for his dedication, hard work and love of country.

Expressing shock over the death of the late veteran actor, Ogun state former governor, Otunba Daniel described Faleti as a rare gem; an uncommon individual. Daniel, in a condolence message, signed by his Media Officer, Ayo Giwa, said the elder statesman was a man of many parts, who equally excelled in his career as a poet, journalists, writer, translator, broadcaster and television exponent.

Also lamenting Faleti’s death, Afenifere Renewal Group, ARG, said the life of dedication and commitment that Adebayo Faleti lived should be celebrated and raised as compass for the youths to follow. In a statement by ARG’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kunle Famoriyo, the group said while the renowned actor and broadcast manager will be missed as an unparalleled repository of Yoruba culture, his footprints in the annals of Yoruba culture should be celebrated and preserved.
